Remote whiteboard best practices

A messy board is worse than no board. Facilitate the canvas like you facilitate the agenda.

Start with a title and three zones: context, options, decision. Ask people to write in the zone that matches their comment.

Narrate while you draw. Silent drawing leaves remote peers guessing; a one-sentence caption under a box prevents confusion.

Timebox editing: two minutes of parallel sticky thoughts, then one facilitator cleans duplicates. Chaos is fine in brainstorm mode; clarity is mandatory before you leave.

When pixel-perfect UI or code is the topic, screen share the source, then return to the board to record the decision in two bullets.
