Zoom

How to create and join a wbmeet room

On the home page, optionally enter a custom room ID (1–20 characters: letters, numbers, hyphen, underscore) or leave it blank to auto-generate one. Click create to enter the room as the admin session.

Copy the room ID from the address bar or the in-room UI and send it to participants. They open wbmeet, paste the ID under join, and enter — no account required.

If a room is closed or frozen, joining may still open the page for snapshot download while the file remains available.

Solo mode (/solo) is a personal whiteboard without a multi-user room; it is not indexed and is meant for private sketching.

Voice and camera tips

When the browser asks for microphone (and camera) permission, allow it for the wbmeet site. Denied permissions are the most common reason voice never starts.

Use headphones when possible to reduce echo. If you hear yourself looping, mute other tabs that might also capture audio.

Cameras are capped per room so the mesh stays practical. Prefer video for people who are presenting; others can stay on voice and the board.

Close unused camera tiles if the call feels heavy. Voice plus whiteboard is enough for most standups and reviews.

Screen share not working?

Start screen share from the in-room control. Your browser will show a picker for a window, tab, or entire screen — you must select something and confirm.

wbmeet allows one active screen share at a time. If someone else is sharing, stop their share (or ask them to) before starting yours.

On macOS, System Settings may need Screen Recording permission for your browser. Without it, the picker can appear empty or black.

If the picture is soft, try a higher quality option when available, and avoid sharing a 4K desktop to many peers on weak networks.

Shared whiteboard basics

The board updates in near real time for all sessions in the room. Use shapes and text for structure; freehand for quick marks.

Agree on a rough layout (left = context, right = decision) so people do not draw on top of each other chaotically.

The whiteboard complements voice: say the point, then pin it as a box or arrow so late joiners can catch up visually.

When the admin closes the room, download the PNG snapshot if you still need the diagram — the room itself is removed promptly.

Room lifetime and PNG snapshots

Active rooms expire after a configured TTL (on the order of hours). Plan important discussions inside that window, or create a new room if you need another session later.

When an admin closes the room, live collaboration ends and capacity is freed immediately. The product is intentionally ephemeral — not a permanent archive.

Optionally, a PNG snapshot of the whiteboard is retained for a short period (minutes) so participants can download it. After that, it is gone.

Do not rely on wbmeet as long-term storage. Export anything you must keep before the snapshot TTL ends.

Camera and room capacity limits

Each room has a maximum number of sessions and a smaller maximum number of simultaneous cameras. These caps protect call quality on typical networks.

If you cannot enable video, the room may already be at the camera cap. Stay on voice, or ask someone else to turn their camera off.

For demos, prefer screen share plus a single presenter camera instead of everyone turning video on.

Large all-hands meetings are outside wbmeet’s sweet spot — use a broadcast-oriented tool, then break into wbmeet rooms for small-group work.

Using wbmeet on a phone browser

Open the same site in a current mobile browser and join with the room ID. Grant mic/camera permissions when prompted.

Keep the phone unlocked and the tab visible; backgrounding can pause WebRTC on some devices.

Screen share from mobile is limited by the OS and browser — prefer desktop for presenting, phone for listening and light annotation.

If the layout feels cramped, rotate to landscape or switch to a laptop for whiteboard-heavy sessions.

Privacy: meetings without accounts

You do not create a wbmeet user profile to meet. Access is gated by knowing the room ID (and admin capabilities for the creator session).

Share room IDs through channels you already trust (team chat, calendar notes). Avoid posting active IDs on public social media.

Room state is short-lived. When a room ends, live collaboration stops; snapshots exist only briefly if enabled.

Ephemeral design reduces leftover meeting archives, but you are still responsible for what you draw or say in the room.

Closing a room as admin

The session that created the room holds admin privileges. Use the close control when the meeting is done instead of leaving the tab open until TTL.

Closing removes the live room right away so others can create rooms under the global capacity limit.

If you need the board, confirm snapshot download is available and grab the PNG before the short retention window ends.

Participants who reconnect after close will not resume a live board — only snapshot download may remain for a while.

WebRTC connection troubleshooting

wbmeet uses WebRTC for media. Strict corporate firewalls or some VPNs block peer connectivity. Switching to a phone hotspot is a quick test.

Update to a current Chrome, Edge, Firefox, or Safari. Embedded in-app browsers sometimes break getUserMedia or WebRTC.

If voice connects but video does not, re-check camera permissions and the room’s camera cap.

Still stuck? Close other heavy tabs, recreate the room, and have everyone rejoin with a fresh ID to clear a bad session mesh.
